Day 7 & 8:
July 18-19, 2008
Konbanwa,
On Friday we had the opportunity to minister at a nursing home in
a nearby city. We have never danced at nursing homes in Japan and this trip
we are scheduled to dance at 3. We think that it is awesome the way the Lord
has set that up this year. The performance and testimonies at the nursing
home went really well. Naomi and Katrina were able to share testimonies of
God's work in their lives. We walked around afterwards shaking hands and
sharing our smiles and the few words that we know in Japanese.
It is an amazing thing to look into their eyes and just pray as you hold
their hands, that the Lord would do a work in their lives. As Alyssa held
one man's hands, he said nothing after thanking her and then tears started
welling up in his eyes. We feel so grateful to have been able to bring the
message and presence of God into this place. Please pray for the staff and
residents that were there that day. Pray that the words that were spoken,
the lyrics of the songs and our expressions would be something that sticks
with them and that the Lord uses to draw them to Himself.
That night we helped make "Japanese tacos" for dinner. It was just like taco
salad, except that instead of chips at the bottom you have rice at the bottom
and layer everything on top. It was sooooo yummy! We had a fun night of learning
new Japanese words and phrases around the dinner table with the pastors.
We learned how to say important things like, "It has been raining all day".

Today is Saturday and we had a Purity Seminar here at the church.
We were so excited because there were 4 girls in attendance who are not Christians,
one who this may have been the first time she has ever heard the gospel.
The underlying theme for our seminar is how precious they are in God's eyes
how he treasures them and is the only one who can truly satisfy all their
needs. We are able to present the gospel in the midst of our stories and
our message about purity. At the end of the seminar, the girls who attended
went around and shared what they had learned, or what they had felt during
our message.
One girl shared, "when I was young, I wanted to save my heart. I have
given my heart to many different guys and have been hurt. Now I am back to
serving God. Today I felt like I should use my story to help other girls."
There was a young girl, 12yr who said that she was convicted about a series
of love stories she had been reading and feels like she needs to stop. Almost
all of them said that they wanted to protect their bodies, hearts and emotions.
There was an older lady who shared how she wished she would have been able
to hear this message when she was younger. She said all the young ladies
in attendance were so blessed to be able to hear while they were still young.
Alyssa closed in prayer, asking that the Lord would give them the strength
to stand by the choices they made today.
Tonight Aika's mom made us a delicious dinner here at the church. Then we
went to a festival near by and walked around, watching dancing and eating
shaved ice (with a flavor, that the name was too long for me to remember,
that they only have in Kumamoto).
If you could please be praying for the team, many of us have been experiencing
dizziness at random times throughout the day. Also pray for Katrina, her
back started hurting her badly today. She said it feels like a muscle spasm.
Pray the the Lord would completely heal her.
Praise report:
Gwen said that today when we practiced her ankle was not hurting her!
Thank you for your prayers,
and CMA Company
