Day 26:
August 6, 2008
We are packing our bags to come home!
Today was a wonderful last day as we were taken to the Peace Park and Miyajima
Island. Today is the anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima, so there were
many people and activities going on throughout the park. The world peace
theme was even stronger today because of the anniversary. It caused us to
again remember, there is no true peace without Jesus Christ. We prayed for
the people we saw, and we were able to write some things about the Lord and
peace being found in Him, on a few questionaires we filled out. Lord draw
these people to You.
There was also a ceremony this evening to remember those who died in the
bombing. It was a beautiful scene to watch hundreds of flickering candles
leading up to the shore, where people placed floating lanterns on the water
and they drifted under the bridge.
Miyajima Island that
we visited today, has many statues of idols, temples and memorials to several
different types of gods. It saddened our hearts to see people praying to
empty rooms. Or paying money to make a prayer, shake a box, pull a number
out, open the drawer with that number and read what your answer is. Then
you take the paper and tie it to the rails in another part of the temple,
hoping that your request will be granted. We pray that the One True
God would show them the emptiness of their gods, and create a desire and
a stirring for something more. Something real. Lord use Your people, the
Christians in Japan, to bring the lost to Your feet.
This evening after a fun day of sight-seeing, we were taken to a special
okonomiyaki restaurant, where we could watch the lady make it right in front
of us. The Lord has blessed us with so many special opportunities this summer,
that were unexpected. Thank you Lord for the way You love us and bless us,
even in the little things!
We are now all packed
(well pretty much) and ready to head home tomorrow. We leave the airport
here in Hiroshima at 9am in the morning. From there we fly to Haneda, take
a bus to Narita (Tokyo airport) and then fly home to beautiful Colorado!
Although it is about 24 hours of travel, we will leave on Thursday morning
(Japan time) and arrive on Thursday night (Colorado time). Because of the
time change, for us it ends up being the longest Thursday ever!
Please pray for safety and health as we travel. For flights to be on time,
and for us to be able to get the rest we need as we travel. Also pray that
the Lord would continue to work in our hearts, and that we would stay open
to any ministry opportunity He may give us on the way home!
Thank you for listening to my ramblings for the past month! I hope it has
helped you be able to pray and feel like you have traveled with us through
Japan this summer! We have so appreciated your prayers and support. The Lord
has worked mightily through your prayers!

We will try to send out an email when we get home to let you know that we
are safe. I know that we are all eager to see our family and friends, we
will be seeing you soon!!
Reveling in the power of our Lord,
Tiffany, Naomi, Erica, Alyssa, Hannah, Gwen, Katrina and Shannon
